Check out our free online information sessions for families of deaf children. You’ll get to ask our experts questions and join discussions with other families.
Our sessions cover a range of topics related to all types and levels of deafness. You don't need any previous experience of the topics covered. You can join in as much or as little as you like.
Places are limited, so booking in advance is essential.

Technology for Education Settings
- Monday 3 March
- 7pm to 8pm
- Suitable for families with deaf children ages 3 to 12 years
Join this session led by our assistive technology specialist to learn how assistive technology can support your child in education settings. From the classroom to the playground, or even during sports, you’ll discover practical technology options to help overcome challenges and promote inclusivity.
We’ll share useful resources and discuss how technology can make a difference in your child’s everyday activities. There’ll also be time to ask any questions you may have about assistive technology and its benefits.
Sleep Issues and Practical Solutions
- Saturday 15 March
- 10am to 11.15am
- Suitable for families with deaf children ages 2 to 10 years
Led by a sleep specialist, this session will help you understand why deaf children may experience sleeping problems and provide practical solutions to overcome them. You'll learn to recognise sleep challenges your child may face and strategies to improve their sleep (and yours!). There’ll be time to ask questions and connect with other parents and carers.
Requesting an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Assessment
- Monday 24 March
- 7pm to 8.15pm
- Suitable for families with children aged 0 to 25 years who live in England
Join this online session to learn about requesting an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessment, including what the assessment should cover and how to tailor your application to your child’s specific needs.
Our advice and guidance officers will share practical tips on applying for an EHCP and provide information on your rights, including how to appeal decisions. There’ll also be time to ask any questions you may have about the process.
Preparing for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Annual Review
- Monday 7 April
- 7pm to 8.15pm
- Suitable for families with deaf children ages 0 to 25 years living in England, who currently have an EHCP for their child
Join this online session to learn how to prepare for an EHCP annual review. You will get useful tips and practical advice on gathering and understanding reports and letters, as well as knowing important deadlines. We will also have information on your right to appeal decisions. The session will be delivered and supported by our Advice and Guidance officers, and there will be time to ask any questions that you have.
Exploring Deaf Identity
- Monday 28 April
- 7pm to 8pm
- Suitable for families with deaf children ages 0 to 16 years
At this session, deaf presenters will tell you about what deaf identity means to them, along with their influences, successes and challenges. Plus, one of our family presenters will share their child’s journey with you.
Disability Living Allowance (DLA) Claims For Your Deaf Child
- Thursday 15 May
- 7pm to 8pm
- Suitable for families with deaf children aged under 16 years living in England, Wales or Northern Ireland
Join this session to learn about how your deaf child can be eligible to claim DLA. You’ll get useful tips on applying and tailoring your application to your deaf child's needs.
Our welfare benefits expert, along with our advice and guidance officers, will lead the session. There’ll also be time to ask any questions you may have.
Real-life Experiences: Making Play and Sport Inclusive
- Monday 19th May
- 7pm to 8pm
- Suitable for families with deaf children ages 0 to 16 years
Join us for an online session designed to help you create more inclusive play opportunities for deaf children. Deaf young people and their family will share real-life experiences and practical tips to ensure your child feels engaged and involved in every type of play. This could be at a play date, sports clubs, or in the playground.
Learn how to navigate communication barriers, prevent social isolation, and create an environment where your child can fully join in. This session will provide actionable advice to foster connection and joy for everyone while playing together. Don’t miss this opportunity to make playtime and sports inclusive and memorable for all.
Child Disability Payment (CDP) Claims For Your Deaf Child (Scotland)
- Tuesday 27 May
- 7pm to 8pm
- Suitable for families with deaf children aged under 16 years living in Scotland
This session will focus on how deaf children in Scotland can be eligible to claim CDP. You’ll get helpful tips on applying and tailoring your application to your deaf child's needs.
Our welfare benefits expert will present the session, and our advice and guidance officers will be on hand to give support. There’ll also be time to ask any questions you may have.
