Age range
4–11 years, 11 months.
Who can use it?
Any relevant professional who has certified training; teachers.
How is it used?
Children are asked to carry out tasks involving three main areas: basic writing, contextual writing and overall writing. The test should be administered individually and takes 30-50 minutes.
What can it tell us?
TEWL-3 provides raw scores, age- and grade-equivalents, normal curve equivalents, and percentiles. It can also provide index scores for basic writing, contextual writing and overall writing.
Pros
- Is norm-referenced.
- Aligns with TOWL-4 and extends the assessment range to younger children.
Cons
All normative data was collected in the USA, and therefore care must be taken in interpreting age- and grade-equivalents.
Is there a cost?
Yes.
