A to Z of Christmas fundraising ideas
Take a look at some of the fun ways you can raise money for us over Christmas.
A – Advent countdown
Auction off opening an advent calendar door each day in your office – Fridays are double!
B – Brussel sprouts eating competition
Whoever eats the most cold and dry sprouts in 60 seconds wins a prize.
C – Carol singing/signing
Sing some carols or sign some carols in British Sign Language and get people to donate to listen/watch.
D – Decoration station
Charge people to decorate a bauble – download and print a paper outline or buy some multipack baubles and get creative.
E – Elf screening
Host a screening of Elf or another Christmas film favourite in your home or office and ask for a donation in return.
F – Fireworks show
Looking for something a bit bigger? How about organising a fireworks show in your local area or garden? Charge for entry and make sure you’re safe.
G – Grotto
Hold an office competition to transform your desks into Santa’s grotto – charge to enter, and the best team wins a prize. Or run one at your child’s school and charge an entry fee to meet Santa.
H – Hat
Dust off your Santa hat and get sponsored to wear it to all your meetings or lessons. Alternatively, everyone could make a donation towards a Santa hat day.
I – Icing the Christmas cake challenge
Participants decorate their Christmas cakes in the most creative or festive way, (they could share photos online too), and raise funds by encouraging donations for their masterpiece.
J – Joke
Everyone has their favourite terrible Christmas joke. Hold a joke-off in your office or school – charge to submit a joke, and the best one wins a prize.
K – Karaoke night
Spend the night belting out your favourite classics at a Christmas-themed karaoke night, and charge people to take part.
L – Lucky dip
Everyone loves a present! Grab some cheap sweets or gifts (or get them donated) and charge people to pick their prize from a Christmas stocking.
M – Mince pies
They’re always a huge hit. Why not have a bake-off competition – charge for people to take part and then hold a bake sale to raise even more.
N – Nature walk
Host a Christmas nature walk through a local park or scenic area. Participants pay an entry fee or collect sponsorship to join. Include fun elements like scavenger hunts, nature trivia, or a photography contest along the route to make it interactive and engaging.
O – Olympics
Hold a Christmas Olympics including a race to be the fastest wrapper or the best tree decorator. Charge to take part – you’ll soon see how competitive people are!
P – Party
Host a Christmas party, charge for entrance and refreshments, and organise a raffle.
Q – Quiz
Hold your own Christmas quiz in your office or local pub – make it interesting by charging for hints to the answers. Learn how to organise a quiz and get free quiz questions.
R – Reindeer dress up
Grab your reindeer ears and onesie and get sponsored for going about your day dressed as Rudolph.
S – Santa Walk
Join lots of others on our Santa Walk challenge – sign up for the Santa Walk.
T – Talent show
Reveal the hidden talents in your community or office with a talent show. Charge to take part and for tickets to the show.
U – Ugly Christmas jumper day
Everyone taking part makes a donation, and the winner takes home a prize.
V – Vegetarian Christmas
Committed meat eater? How about having a sponsored meat-free Christmas?
W – Wreath making
It’s fun and practical, plus you get to showcase your wreath afterwards. Charge people to attend a wreath-making class to make the perfect Instagram-worthy Christmas door.
X – X Marks the Spot Treasure Hunt
Create an exciting Christmas treasure hunt where participants solve clues to find the "X" (or a Christmas tree?) on the map. Charge an entry fee or encourage teams to raise sponsorship to join. Include small prizes for the first teams to finish and bonus donations for unlocking hidden Christmas challenges along the way.
Y – Yarn bombing
Host a community event where people come together to knit or crochet pieces of Christmas yarn art, such as scarves, blankets, or decorations. Once completed, the yarn creations can be displayed around the community or sold, with proceeds being donated. This can also be a fun, creative way to involve people of all ages and skill levels.
Z – Zumba-thon
Feeling a bit bleurgh after a few too many mince pies? Get yourself moving again with a Christmas-themed Zumba-thon.
National Deaf Children’s Society no longer have Christmas cards available to buy as these have not been as popular in recent years. Instead, why not create a digital Christmas card to send to your friends and family and donate the cost of what postage would have been to us?
